Before travelling

Check the zone, not only the gym.

A reset may close part of a wall while the rest of the outlet stays open. Confirm the affected outlet, wall or zone and the reopening time.

After a reset

Find the newest climbs.

Use BFF’s latest reset post to identify the refreshed zone, then ask a Buddy if you cannot match the post to the wall.

Planning projects

Know what leaves next.

The future calendar will show stripping and reopening dates by outlet so climbers can plan final attempts and fresh-set sessions.

Understanding BFF routes

Progress gradually, not blindly.

BFF’s route setting is designed to avoid large jumps between levels and to expose climbers to varied movement—not just harder pulls.

01

Start with the easiest route tags

Warm up, learn the wall style and move through the tags one step at a time.

02

Expect different movement styles

A level can include balance, coordination, strength, footwork or problem-solving challenges.

03

Ask a Buddy when unsure

BFF staff can point you towards suitable routes and explain the route tags used at that outlet.

Use the tags at the gym

Grade bands can differ by discipline and outlet. Until BFF publishes one confirmed comparison chart, follow the current wall tags and ask a Buddy for the closest next step.

Updates & events

How to plan around changes.

Where will wall closures appear?

Confirmed closures should appear in the Today at BFF and Routesetting sections. During the transition from Instagram, use the linked BFF Instagram account for urgent reset notices.

Can operating hours change?

Yes. Events, public holidays and maintenance can affect published hours. Call the relevant outlet if your visit is time-sensitive.

Are first-time competitors welcome?

Yes for the published Verticrux Highwall events. Lead categories are only for climbers who can already lead and clip independently.

Where do I find competition age categories?

Open the individual event page. Verticrux lists birth-year categories, formats, fees and registration windows for each competition date.
