Youth pathway

A child can begin with Kids Guided, try a weekly class, train consistently and progress towards workshops or BFF competitions when ready.

A first-lead workshop for youth climbers aged 11–16 who are comfortable on top rope or auto-belay and can climb 6a+ on the high wall.

High-wall safety

At Tampines Hub, climbers must have their competency verified before top-rope belaying or lead climbing and belaying.

Minimum age 13

Tests knots, equipment knowledge and top-rope belaying protocols. Bring a partner; both climbers are verified.

Age 16 & below

Allows lead climbing only—not belaying. Bring an adult partner who can lead belay proficiently.

Walk-ins may be possible, but BFF recommends calling the Tampines Hub front desk before coming.

Learning questions

Do adults need to take a class before climbing?

No. Adults can visit Climb Zone independently after creating an account and completing the required safety briefing.

Does the youth lead workshop teach belaying?

No. BFF Lead Ready teaches lead climbing only. Lead belaying is not included.

Do I need verification for auto-belay?

No. Verification is not required for auto-belay or for top-rope climbing with a belayer who has already passed BFF verification.
