Tests knots, equipment knowledge and the belaying protocols used for a top-rope climb. Each slot is for a pair; bring your own partner and both climbers will be tested.

Choose the correct test
Three verification types.
Passing one test does not automatically grant every type of rope access.
Lead climbing & belaying
Tests knots, equipment, awareness, lead-climbing safety and lead-belaying protocols. Each slot is for a pair; both climbers will be tested.
Youth lead climbing only
Tests the young climber’s ability to lead safely. This grants lead-climbing access only—not lead-belaying access. Bring an adult partner who can lead belay proficiently.

Come with a partner and arrive early.

Before coming
Practise first. Test when ready.
Verification is an assessment of existing competency, not a lesson. If you are not yet confident, take time to practise or choose suitable instruction before testing.
- 01Choose the correct verification
Top rope, lead climbing and belaying, or youth lead climbing only.
- 02Bring the correct partner
Pair tests require two climbers. Youth lead-only candidates need an adult who can lead belay proficiently.
- 03Call before walking in
Walk-ins may be possible, but BFF asks climbers to call Tampines Hub in advance.
Access questions
Know when verification is required.
Do I need verification to use auto-belay?
No. BFF does not require verification for auto-belay lanes.
Can I top-rope climb without being verified?
Yes, when your belayer has passed the relevant BFF verification. Verification is required before you perform the belaying.
Does youth lead verification allow the climber to belay?
No. It grants lead-climbing access only. The climber is not permitted to lead belay under that verification.
What if I do not pass?
Practise sufficiently before trying again. Each person may take a verification test no more than twice in a rolling 31-day period.
